In 2021, we’ve arrived at a point where brands are finally serving us high-quality products that now, don a beautifully designed, aesthetic experience. With this artful approach, we’re now not only able to enjoy effective formulas, but also able to feel an emotional connection with those brands and the products they offer. By keeping this thoughtfully crafted brand experience in mind, conscious shoppers will not only remain loyal to those products but their attractive aesthetic too. Moving forward, we’ll likely witness more brands pivoting to this artistic approach. And for someone that loves matching all my purchases with my neutral aesthetic, I couldn’t be happier.
So if you’re anything like me, I’ve rounded up the best aesthetic skincare brands with clean, refined, and neutral designs you can enjoy that’ll look as good as they perform. And for a peek into their curated look and feel, I’ve included a snapshot of their Instagram feeds that I could personally scroll through all day whenever I’m craving some creative inspiration or satisfying aesthetic content.
Aēsop
I could probably spot Aēsop’s brand aesthetic from a mile away. Their iconic typography, amber bottles, and muted color palette are a favorite among all who enjoy clean and elevated packaging designs.
And with their wide range of vegan and cruelty-free formulations ranging from skin, hair, and beauty care, you’ll have plenty to choose from to create your luxe, self-care setup.
Nécessaire
With their ditorial typography, simple packaging, and purposeful formulations, Nécessaire is committed to offering necessary products to improve our wellbeing.
Their well-loved products are essentials for anyone that’s into sulfate and paraben-free formulas. And true to their clean formula approach, they’ve excluded an extensive list of potentially harmful ingredients to ensure your entire skin, hair, and body ritual exceed your standards.
Summer Fridays
Once Summer Fridays hit Sephora, I was instantly in love with their neutral and minimal aesthetic.
That sustainable and clean-looking, baby blue aluminum tube for their iconic Jet Lag Mask hit me right in the feels. It attracted me so much so that my drugstore budget mindset was still enticed to purchase the full-sized version. And just how I visually began swooning over their entire look and feel, my skin quickly followed suit, falling hard for the mask’s hyper-hydrating, multitasking formula. My skin drank the rich yet lightweight formula right up while working effortlessly with my acne-prone type.
Lux Unfiltered
If you don’t know Sivan Ayla yet, I encourage you to scroll and swoon through her dreamy Instagram feed whenever you’re in the mood for some neutral lifestyle inspiration. From that, you’ll then gain a whole new appreciation for her brand Lux Unfiltered, an extension of her neutral aesthetic and love for sunless tanning. For those (like me) that have seen the light and transitioned from sunbathing to tanning products, Luxe Unfiltered offers a range of products dedicated to creating the most natural-looking tan you can achieve in the comfort of your own home.
Their best-selling product by far is their No. 32 Self-Tanning Cream that features an ultra-hydrating formula with subtle notes of cocoa and passion fruit. And to stay true to the founder’s personal aesthetic, Lux Unfiltered’s packaging and overall branding creates the perfect, neutral visual experience that she thankfully continues to serve up on her social channels.
Grown Alchemist
When I first discovered Grown Alchemist, it came as a refreshing surprise when I learned that the brand’s founders first met as young graduates when collaborating on a project that merged their mutual passions for design and product development. By starting with that creative eye for design, they added value to their brand by creating products that were also rooted in the body’s scientific process of natural skin regeneration.
By merging the two philosophies, Grown Alchemist has established itself as a world-renowned skin and haircare brand that delivers efficacious products that not only deliver results but a satisfying and refined aesthetic.
Officine Universelle Buly 1803
If there was ever a brand that could transport me back in time to a romantically lit vanity in Paris set in the 1800s, it would be Officine Universelle Buly. I have yet to come across another skincare brand that makes me feel how Officine Buly makes me feel which is elegant, Parisian, and frankly, like young a young Victorian aristocrat getting ready for a night at a grand ball.
Known first for their water-based perfumes, they now offer a range of skincare, body care, soaps, candles, and more vanity essentials to personalize your very own Paris-inspired vanity.
Typology Skincare
Typology embraces the art of minimalism. Formulated to be natural, vegan, and sustainable, Typology delivers its products to ultimately be transparent with their formulas. So instead of creating products that stood out with an overwhelming quantity of trending ingredients, they brought it back to the basics by focusing on the most essential and active ingredients and pairing them with well-designed, high-quality formulas that are sustainable as they are efficacious.
And just like their minimal formulas, they’ve designed their packaging and branding to be just as transparent yet still, undoubtedly refined.
